About Trajan Bridge
The first bridge over the Danube, built by Apollodorus of Damascus for Emperor Trajan. 20 stone piers supported wooden arches. Stood for over 150 years. No bridge surpassed its span for over 1,000 years. Only the piers remain visible at low water.
